PARA TODOS TODO
PARA TODOS TODO
The slogan 'Para todos todo, para nosotros nada' ('Everything for everyone, nothing for ourselves') serves as the ethical heartbeat of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN), an indigenous revolutionary group from Chiapas, Mexico. Emerging into the global spotlight during the 1994 uprising, the phrase signifies a commitment to selfless service and communal autonomy; the Zapatistas argue that their struggle is not for their own political gain or material wealth, but for the collective dignity and rights of all marginalized people. By demanding 'nothing' for themselves, they subvert the traditional logic of political ambition, asserting that true liberation is only achieved when the benefits of the struggle belong to the entire community rather than a select few.
To this day, the EZLN control much of Chiapas, rejecting both government and cartel interference.
