ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE
ALL POWER TO THE PEOPLE
The Black Panther Party, founded in 1966 by Huey P. Newton and Bobby Seale, was a revolutionary, militant organisation in the US during the Civil Rights era. Central to their identity was the slogan 'All Power to the People,' a phrase that distilled their Marxist-Leninist ideology and their commitment to grassroots empowerment. While the group is often remembered for their armed 'cop-watching' patrols to challenge police brutality, the slogan truly resonated through their Survival Programs, such as the Free Breakfast for Children Program. For the Panthers, 'All Power to the People' wasn't just a rhetorical jab at the establishment; it was a demand for self-determination and the redistribution of political, economic, and social resources to marginalized communities regardless of race.
